Amish Friendship Bread
Amish Friendship Bread
recipe was passed on from my friend LeAnne along with a starter bag.
Original recipe makes
4 cups of starter
Change Servings
1 (.25 ounce) package
active dry yeast
1/4 cup
warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
3 cups
all-purpose flour, divided
3 cups
white sugar, divided
3 cups
milk
Once you have a starter bag here are the instructions:
Day 1: Squish the bag
Day 2: Squish the bag
Day 3: Squish the bag
Day 4: Squish the bag
Day 5: Add 1c milk, 1c flour, and 1c sugar and stir (wood or plastic)
Day 6: Squish the bag and let the air out
Day 7: Squish the bag and let the air out
Day 8: Squish the bag and let the air out
Day 9: Squish the bag and let the air out
Day 10: (Baking Day) Add 1c milk, 1c flour and 1c sugar and stir. Then pour 4, 1c portions into their own bags. Give these to your friends (it will be their day 1).
With the remaining mix, put in a plastic or glass bowl. Add 1c oil, 1/2c milk, 3 eggs, 1tsp vanilla and mix well.
In a separate bowl: Mix 2c flour, 1c sugar, 1/2tsp salt, 1.5tsp baking powder, 2 small vanilla pudding mixes, 2tsp cinnamon and 1tspbaking soda. Mix well with a wooden spoon.
Pour mixture into two well greatsed loaf pans coated with cinnamon and sugar, sprinkle the top with cinnaon and sugar if desired.
Bake 325 for 45-55min
*You can use chocolate instead of vanilla pudding, or experiment with any flavor. You can add chocolate chips, nuts, fruits, etc.
