Apple Pie

Apple Pie...This recipe started from Good Housekeeping Cookbook and has been edited slightly

Ingredients:
1/2c Sugar
1/2c Flour
1/2tsp Cinnamon
1/4tsp Nutmeg
6 Apples (mix type of apples, we usually do 2 granny smith, 2 figi or yellow apples, 2 red delicious)
Refrigerated pie crust (pack of 2)
2 or 3 tbs of butter

Mix Sugar, Flour, Cinnamon, and Nutmeg
Peel, core and slice apples
Toss apples in sugar mixture
Place pie crust in the pie plate, add apples, lattice the second pie crust over the apples.
Place pats of butter (cut up into 4-6 pats) in between apples

Use a fork around the edge of the crust to help seal the two crusts

We use a pie shield when baking (425 for 35-40 minutes) to help prevent the crust from burning.  About 20 minutes into baking, for a golden brown look you can top the crust with an egg white and water mixture.
